Kelly Zalewski

Her background:

Licensed Master Social Worker
Clinical Therapist

Kelly graduated from Michigan State School of Social Work in 2008 and she has been practicing in a variety of different settings in Mental Health for the last 10 years. Kelly's journey has taken her in many different directions over the years but she always come back to her true center, helping others to achieve their full potential. Recently she been called to further explore how physical movement can help individuals to process and heal emotional stress and trauma. Kelly has always found the separation between the physical health and mental health systems to be problematic. The divided and compartmentalized system guides us to believe that our physical body and emotional wellbeing are separate when in fact they are intertwined.  Our bodies are physically and emotionally impacted by internal emotions, external life stressors, physical or emotional trauma. Physical symptoms are often addressed through the medical model while the emotional symptoms are ignore or minimized. In many cases the physical and emotional symptoms are connected, both need to be addressed in order to be able to achieve balanced wellness in body, mind and spirit. Kelly has gained knowledge and experience with Yoga, Mindfulness practices and Meditation. She often incorporate these techniques into my sessions in order to assist clients in connecting with their bodies and recognizing natural signals of stress.
Kelly uses a holistic approach that incorporates traditional therapeutic training with movement, meditation and mindfulness. Her goal is to support and empower clients to create their own tool box of skills that will assist them in achieving long lasting wellness. Kelly has experience in working with children (as young as 3), adolescents and adults of all ages. She has worked with people experiencing a variety of symptoms/Diagnosis including Depression, PMDD, Post-Partum Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Trauma, Parenting Concerns, Life/Career Transitions, Relationship Difficulties and Divorce.
